I've known for ages that I spend too much time on Twitter. While I acknowledge that Twitter is great for networking with other bloggers and people working in the finance industry, it brings very little traffic to my personal finance blog Help Me To Save.
I think part of the problem is the instant gratification that you get on Twitter; it's fun and interactive. However tweets are so "off the moment", isn't it better to use your time to create something that will last for longer? For example I get a lot of traffic to a couple of Help Me To Save posts that I wrote more than a year ago.
We all need to evaluate how to use social media effectively. I need to spend more time on writing content for my blogs versus tweeting. I've started a social media diet on my travel blog. mainly to reduce the time that I fritter away on Twitter.
Do you feel that Twitter is a good investment of your time?
